If you think butterflies are beautiful and you want to see them at home, you might enjoy planting a garden that will attract these beautiful creatures.
You don't have to live in a house to benefit from butterflies. You can plant these flowers either outside or on your window sill if you live in an apartment.
The first step to preparing your butterfly garden is to select the flowers that produce nectar. Nectar is sugary liquid that serves as food for butterflies (There is a list of flowers and shrubs at the end). In addition, select flowers bright in color. Butterflies are attracted to purple, pink, yellow, and red colors. Plant all similar colors together. This will attract more butterflies to your garden. Fragrant flowers are a plus; they also attract butterflies.
You may want to select flowers that bloom at different times; to allow your garden to stay beautiful and continue to provide food for the butterflies.
To protect your butterflies from nature choose some tall plants, this will prevent the wind from disturbing the butterflies. You may want to also include some flat rocks in your garden for the butterflies to congregate on.
The next step is location. The garden should be in a sunny area it should get at least 6 hours of sunlight a day. There should also be some trees near to the area; this will provide shelter for your butterflies.
The next step is to provide water nearby in a shallow dish, puddle, or bird dish. It is also important to make sure you don't use any pesticides in your garden. Butterflies may be beautiful but they are still bugs.
